2014-15 SEASON (Minnesota): Saw his second NBA season cut short after undergoing surgery on Feb. 23 to repair a ruptured ligament in the middle finger on his left hand… He missed the final 28 contests, as well as enduring a 16-game absence (Jan. 10-Feb. 8) due to a strained outer oblique suffered Jan. 9 at Milwaukee… Saw action in 38 games, including the first 13 starts of his career; he averaged 13.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 1.2 apg in 22.8 mpg… Shot 48.9% from the field, 39.2% (20-for-51) from three-point range and 71.7% from the FT line… Tallied 15.6 ppg and 4.9 rpg as a starter, and added 12.4 ppg (52.2%) and 3.6 rpg in 25 games off the bench; his 32.3 pts/48 scoring rate led all NBA reserves (min. 5 GP)… Reached double figures on 24 occasions, including eight 20+ nights; he led the Wolves in scoring seven times and on the boards five times… Chipped in 10 points and five rebounds in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on Feb. 13, as part of All-Star Weekend in New York… Poured in a career-high 30 points Dec. 30 at Utah; the five three-pointers are also a career best… Tallied a game-high 26 points Dec. 19 at Boston; the five assists and 38:17 are both career bests… Picked off a career-high three steals Dec. 16 at Washington, and swiped 14 steals in his final 18 outings (four in his first 20)… Netted a game-high 28 points Dec. 14 vs. the L.A. NBA CAREER NOTES: Acquired by the Timberwolves on draft night (June 27, 2013) along with the draft rights to Gorgui Dieng (21st overall) from the Utah Jazz in exchange for the draft rights to Trey Burke (9th overall)… Selected by the Utah Jazz with the 14th overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft… 2013-14 (Minnesota): Finished his rookie NBA season by appearing in 37 games for the Wolves, all off the bench… Sidelined for five games (Nov. 15-22) with a sprained right ankle and missed the final seven (Apr. 5-16) after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee Apr. 4 at Miami… Averaged 3.9 ppg and 1.4 rpg in 7.8 mpg, hitting 46.0% from the field, 27.3% from three-point range and 65.0% from the FT line… Shot 50.5% (51-for-101) after Feb. 1, averaging 25.5 pts/48 in that stretch (127 points/239 minutes)… Tallied a season-high 20 points Feb. 25 at Phoenix, one of four double-digit nights; the two steals and 24:20 were season bests, also… Pulled in a season-high seven rebounds Feb. 23 at Portland, and had 12 points Feb. 8 vs. Portland… Recalled from Iowa (D-League) on Jan. 13; he netted 24.5 ppg (57.1%) and 9.8 rpg in four games for the Energy… Played for the Wolves’ entry at the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 8.5 ppg.

 

INTERNATIONAL NOTES: Scored a record-setting 35 points for USA Basketball in the 2012 Nike Hoop Summit, where the USA Junior National Select Team lost to the World Select Team, 84-75, on April 7, 2012, in Portland, Ore. (Rose Garden).

 

COLLEGE NOTES: In his lone season at UCLA, helped the Bruins to a 25-10 record, the Pac-12 regular-season title, a runner-up finished in the Pac-12 Tournament and an NCAA Tournament berth… Led UCLA with 17.9 points per game and averaged 5.2 rebounds per game… Ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in scoring (17.9 ppg)… Earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors and was named Pac-12 Co-Freshman of the Year, along with Arizona State’s Jahii Carson… Earned second-team All-America honors from The Sporting News… Was a USBWA Freshman All-America selection (U.S. Basketball Writers’ Association)… Was one of eight finalists for the Integris Wayman Tisdale Award (presented to the nation’s top freshman by the USBWA)… Ranks second on UCLA’s all-time freshman scoring list (17.9 ppg), trailing Don MacLean’s average of 18.6 ppg in 1988-89… Ranks ninth on the Pac-12 all-time freshman scoring list (17.9 ppg).
